Our History

Grace Baptist Church was founded under the leadership of Pastor Josh Beutow in March of 2008. We began meeting in the “School Information Systems” building (next to Tremont Fitness). In April of 2010, the Lord allowed us to purchase the old gymnastics building located between Tremont and Pekin on Route 9 in front of the Farmer’s Market.

The People Of Grace

Grace is made up of imperfect people, who are motivated by a passion for Jesus Christ and a compassion for all people. Our desire is to see Jesus Christ transform everything: ourselves as individuals, our church, our city, and our world. So…whatever your thoughts on church, whatever your beliefs about God, YOU ARE WELCOME HERE. We don’t have everything figured out, but we passionately follow the one who does; JESUS CHRIST.

Come Worship With Us

We are thankful that God sent His Son to redeem us, to mend our brokeness, and to forgive us of the sin we have committed against Him. We invite you to come and explore God and His Word for yourself. Don’t worry, you won’t be asked to wear a nametag or make a speech. Just come and see what God is doing here at Grace!

Our Mission

Worship God - Connect to Others - Serve Both

  • Worship

All of life is worship! Our foundation is Jesus. He is preeminent in all that we do. His fame is our concern.

Our desire is to make Jesus known to ‘every tribe, tongue, and nation.’ We do this individually through sharing our faith, and collectively by partnering with ministries locally, nationally, and globally that are sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

The Bible is our sole authority. We believe that it is the inspired and inerrant final authority in all issues of life and doctrine. We believe that the original authors, their historical contexts, and the Holy Spirit are the best guides to understanding the Scriptures. We value communicating the timeless truth of Scripture in thoughtful, practical, and culturally relevant ways.

  • Connect

We believe that life change happens in community. We value Christ-centered friendships that encourage us to stay faithful and accountable and to become disciples that make disciples.

We believe love and grace are the great distinctives of the Christian faith. Therefore, we value authenticity, love, and serving others in sacrificial ways. When differences arise, we lead with forgiveness and grace.

We believe in partnering with families. We intentionally partner with parents and guardians to equip them to fulfill their calling to raise up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

  • Serve

We believe that church should be fun, no matter your age. It is a joy to use our gifts to serve God and others. Therefore, we value laughter, a spirit of celebration, and having fun as we lead and serve together. We will laugh hard, loud, and often. There are few things more enjoyable than serving God with people you love.

We value and are a part of the greater community, and therefore, work with people, organizations, and churches to help serve others in our community as the hands and feet of Jesus.
